Staying at my grandparents before DBS

DBS=deep brain stimulation which is a surgery to help alleviate Parkinson’s like tremors. I was supposed to have had it last summer but Medicaid denied it even though my neurologist recommended it after we had tried everything else simply because I don’t have Parkinson's and there is limited data on the efficacy in my type of tremors which is a rare type of tremor called "Holme's tremor". My amazing family helped me to appeal to decision which was again denied so I was forced to take legal action because Amerigroup (Medicaid) didn’t look at my individual case but instead used a "blanket" verdict to decide that because I don’t have Parkinson’s, they wouldn’t cover the surgery even though my neurologist wanted to proceed as DBS is the final attempt in a LONG series of attempts with various medical interventions to control the tremors. We won the case against Medicaid thanks to our wonderful lawyer from the Northwest Justice Project and the testimony of my doctor. I’m now scheduled to have the surgery on July 9th. Because I won’t be allowed to lift for awhile after the surgery, I spent my days there lifting and working for my grandparents doing odd jobs around their convenience store. I also made a video journal that is being uploaded to my YouTube channel soon. I enjoyed spending time with my grandparents even if they have to work and run the convenience store also.
