Trying to diet for weight loss...

Trying to diet for weight loss can be EXTRA hard if you grew up as a picky eater or have a SWEET TOOTH!!
EVEN WORSE IF YOU'RE DISABLED and have a hard time getting around. That DOESN’T mean you can’t change your habits to make losing weight easier though!!

Spending your whole childhood and teenage years loving food BUT ESPECIALLY sweets – can create incredibly strong BAD eating habits. I know, that was me… How did I change that and become the fitness buff I am today??

IT WASN’T EASY!! I can tell you that much. I have gone through cycles in my life of eating everything in sight to virtually starving myself (eating DRASTICALLY below my maintenance calories.)

in 5th grade after growing up as “the fat kid” to that point, I decided to do something about it. I started eating healthier and more nutritious. I started feeling good about myself but then…

I got REALLY sick from, I THINK, an E. Coli outbreak that happened in the area I lived. I was vomiting and defecating EVERYTHING I consumed out. I couldn’t keep anything down and actually ended up in the hospital for dehydration several times.

I lived through that only to go into middle school where kids were unkind to me at a new school hundreds of miles away from my elementary school. We had moved for a job opportunity for my dad. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED the area where we had moved but all the middle school cliques surfaced and I was the new kid…

Other people were unkind to me and I just didn’t feel like I belonged. If you remember your middle school years they were probably pretty similar. I thought if I could just be and look like the movie stars, I would fit in. I went about it all wrong though.

I mistakenly thought calories were the energy not realizing that they were a unit of energy to fuel life and so I would eat very little and virtually starve myself only to eat up GORGING myself later because I got so hungry.

Unfortunately I usually would binge sweets. I entered high school and still had those thoughts EVEN THOUGH I had made friends and was socially accepted now. I liked who I was MOST of the time but THOSE THOUGHTS still haunted me…

I started going to church with my friends and found Jesus. Now I have someone who is always there. My parents were of course but I’m sure you know how teenagers are… I finally figured out how to not care about what other people thought of me. Best decision of my life!!

I was FREE!!! If God is for us, who can stand against us?! Then my car accident happened after I went off to college…come back tomorrow for the story of my accident. What does that have to do with weight loss?! You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out.
