Why you’re holding on to stubborn bodyfat.

2/11/2021

This post is aimed at helping people so here are 5 reasons your body holds on to stubborn fat:
1. Fat Loss Is UniformFat loss happens throughout your whole body. You can’t spot reduce by natural means. Although you might love the way your hips look, you might hate how far your stomach sticks out. When you lose weight, your weight loss is going to be evenly distributed across your entire body. You can get smaller through diet and exercise, but your physical proportions are going to remain constant. Targeted toning exercises can help, but they’re rarely quick to help dieters get the specific looks they really want. It takes hard work! That’s where a trainer who specializes in body recomposition (such as myself) can help you in your journey.
2. You’ve Slowed Your Metabolism Down With Yo-Yo Dieting and depriving yourself.
Drastically cutting calories wreaks havoc on the body. Whenever your body thinks that it might be in danger of starving, it adjusts its metabolic functioning to save that last bit of fat. This is an evolutionary benefit when food is scarce but in today’s society, there’s really no need but it stays around in case. This is why many people struggle to get those last 10 to 15 pounds that just won’t budge off. Since the storage of fat in times of surplus was an evolutionary advantage, your body will constantly work against you in an effort to protect itself and keep that last little bit of high energy fat.
3. You’re Getting Older
Aging happens. There’s nothing anybody can do about it. (Unless you happen to have a time machine) Unfortunately, one unavoidable part of this process is having your metabolism slow down. This usually happens to men and women right at the tail-end of their thirties. At this stage of life, if you already maintain a routine exercise plan and a healthy diet, trimming off unwanted fat is going to be an uphill battle. You don’t have to go it alone though! There are many resources available to help fat loss. I can get you resources if you just email me to have a conversation.

4. Pregnancy And Childbirth Have Permanently Changed The Way Your Body Looks
Some women seem to bounce right back to their former body weight after having kids. The vast majority, on the other hand, struggle for years to adapt to the physical changes that childbirth brings with it. If this sounds familiar, you’re definitely not alone. Having babies and the hormonal changes that this entails can make you more predisposed to fat storage around belly, thighs, buttocks and hips. There are ways to reclaim your youth however! Drop me an email and I can help.
5. Your Body Is Producing Too Much Cortisol
The stress hormones that your body starts to produce whenever you feel anxious is a key contributor to unwanted fat. Too much cortisol makes you more prone to those not-so-lovely "love" handles. While you can certainly change the way you eat and the amount of exercise that you get (drop me an email for my FREE nutrition guide) getting rid of stress can be much harder. There are also certain dietary and lifestyle choices, such as too much caffeine and smoking, that can impact both stress and cortisol production.

If you don’t like the way your body looks, there are always ways to change it. When diet and exercise don’t seem to work, you may be facing one of the five, stubborn challenges mentioned above. In situations like these, body recomposition supervised by a certified trainer to get can lead to far greater levels of confidence.
